Day 3 – Coos Bay, OR
We all woke up at 4:45 AM this morning with a phone call from someone who forgot about the 2 hour time zone difference. Dad is really cool because he decided to take us on a long 1:45 minute walk. I think you call that a “hike”. Eli was really tired but very happy. When he got back to the room, he had an anxiety attack and was not happy sitting in the room while Mom got ready. Dad had to take him out 2 times. Maybe Lililoo and I should do that so we can go out too.
Mom has planned the route today and we are supposed to end up in this place called Coos Bay, OR. We are traveling up the coast and it is really foggy but beautiful. We saw a sign that said “Elk Crossing Ahead” and sure enough, we saw some females! Lililoo and I BARKED AND BARKED AND HOWLED when we saw them. Dad was really mad at us but we had a lot of fun (don’t tell him we heard - we pretended we didn’t).
Mom is just focusing on the road ahead and pretty much ignoring all of the chaos (Dad should take some lessons from her). Eli is just stands in the back and breathes really loud. Dad gets really worried and tries to make him lay down. Of course…Lililoo likes to take up all of the space. Why can’t they all just get along???
We stopped in this place called Kalamath, CA and saw a giant man with a really ugly giant blue dog! The dog’s ears were long, skinny and pointed. I don’t think he could hear because he never said anything. But his owner talked a lot. His voice sounded like it was coming out of a speaker. (???) Dad said he must be a ventriloquist because his lips never moved. The man told us to smile when mom took our picture. Mom said he should smile too. He didn’t. Mom told him she wanted his job.  He said she'd have to grow MUCH bigger!  Eli wondered what the ugly blue dog was thinking because he never wagged his tail. Seriously… he had REALLY ugly ears! When Mom and Dad took us back to the car, we ran into a family from Miami with a little girl named Zoe. She wanted to meet “Me” (of course…as I am the “Good One”). She gave us treats so now we are her best friend and we love her forever!
Later in the day, Mom and Dad stopped at some little harbor town on the coast because dad said he was hungry. News Flash: He is constantly hungry! He always suggests that they stop for a glass of wine because Mom doesn’t usually eat lunch. She knows his game and always says “No, it is too early, but if YOU want to get something to eat…”. So get this! They stop at this cool harbor place and find an award winning chowder restaurant and leave US in the car! Boy, were we mad! We howled and whined and it didn’t make any difference. When does “Man’s Best Friend” come into play??? They didn’t even bring us any oyster crackers!  I’m sensing a pattern here…
The Oregon coast is awesomely beautiful! Mom was driving the car…but Dad was driving Mom nuts expecting her to stop every time they rounded the bend in the road so he could take another picture. I heard dad mumbling something under his breath. I try to forget.
After that, it was the same old same old routine: Drive. Take pictures. Drive…take pictures. (I think dad still wanted to take pictures AND DRIVE!). We ended up in a place called Coos Bay Oregon and checked into this really nice Super 8 (it is nicer because we stayed at a Motel 6 before and this two numbers higher!) The room is big but not big enough for Eli. He just wants “OUT”. Really, he just needs to take a CHILL PILL! Actually, that is what Dad gave him. The vet said that if he gets too stressed out, we should give him a Benadryl. I don’t think it is helping.
Oh… and once again, Mom and Dad parked the car with US IN IT and proceeded to get dinner.  How completely RUDE!!!  I think if it wasn’t for little miss “trouble” Lililoo, we’d be able to go in with them.  Sigh… "big" little sisters ruin EVERYTHING!!!
When we got back to the hotel Mom and Dad opened their nightly bottle of wine.  This time, the cups were a coated corrugated cardstock.  We still didn’t get any… L
